Leading through the Turn
I basically want to be Elise Mitchell when I grow up because she’s been wildly successful in public relations and still has her sanity. Leading through the Turn is a how-to manual for leaders in public relations on staying centered and enjoying the journey, even in the middle of the public relations hurricane (which is not for the faint of heart).
Traction
As we grow and thrive, it’s more and more important that we instill processes and accountability throughout our organization. Throughout the next 12 months, we will implement a new operating system, Traction, which will hopefully make everyone’s lives easier. Especially mine.

HBR’s 10 Must Reads on Emotional Intelligence
I’m a fan of Harvard Business Review books, and this one on emotional intelligence is one of my favorites. Anyone in a management role or looking to move into a management role should read this book. It will help you better understand how one’s emotions impact our work and decisions. The takeaways from this book helped me to be a better, more intuitive manager and leader.
Creativity, Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration
I’ve read this book multiple times, and every time I have a newfound inspiration for creativity, honesty and problem-solving after reading it. No matter your industry, role or job function, this book is inspirational for everyone. One key takeaway for me during my most recent read was managers must loosen control, not tighten them. I try to encourage this in my leadership each day.

Contagious: Why Things Catch On
Every time I turn on the TV, open social media or monitor the news, I discover a new product or idea. Reading this book opened my eyes to why campaigns catch a reader’s attention and motivate them to purchase a product, go to a new restaurant or subscribe to a new media outlet. Quality, price and advertising contribute to success, but they don’t explain the whole story. In the everchanging world of PR, this book gave me a deeper understanding of how to grab people’s attention and use it to foster success.
