Foundation Announces “Inspire the Dream Gala”

Denver (October 31, 2023) – The Patrick Surtain II Foundation, the official nonprofit foundation of Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II, officially launched yesterday with the announcement of its executive board. The mission of the Foundation is to level the playing field for students in financially disadvantaged communities by ensuring that these students have the same access as their suburban peers to ensure their success.

Patrick Surtain II, one of the NFL’s premier cornerbacks, Pro Bowler, and first-round draft pick, is leveraging his platform for the betterment of his community. Influenced by his father, three-time Pro Bowl defensive back, Patrick Surtain Sr., and his mother, Michelle, the Foundation’s primary focus is to use Surtain’s platform as a member of the Denver Broncos to improve the trajectory of students in financially disadvantaged schools and from financially disadvantaged single-parent homes.

“Football has provided me with a remarkable opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who need it most, and it’s the driving force behind the creation of this foundation,” said Surtain. “My grandmother, Pamela, supported my dad and his siblings, and together with their community, they paved the way for a better life. I am excited to have the chance to do the same for other families in similar situations.”

The Foundation will focus its work on three impact programs:

  • Each fall, the Foundation will host a Game Plan Pitch Day for Title I local middle and high school students to pitch their school’s need for Pat Surtain II’s Inspiration Room, aiming to identify missing academic resources, equipment, and support for their aspirations.
  • Starting in 2024, the Foundation will support financially disadvantaged single-parent homes in Denver Public Schools with 75% or more of their students in the free lunch program, providing essential food staples during summer break to level the playing field.
  • The Foundation aims to empower financially disadvantaged high school students by providing accessible Inspiration Rooms and resources, enabling them to explore various fields, including broadcasting, podcasting, design, coding, music production, and more, to bridge the opportunity gap with their suburban peers.
