DENVER (August 11, 2014) — Novitas Communications has received the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) certification by the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce. The WOSB certification is intended to support women small business owners, and help them reach their goals.

The award raises awareness for successful businesswomen in a variety of industries who still represent a minority in their professions. By recognizing their accomplishments, the WOSB simultaneously supports women draw more business and serves as a beacon of encouragement to women of all ages who want to start or manage businesses of their own. Becoming certified will help Novitas Communications pursue new business opportunities and reach innovative goals.

“With this certification, Novitas Communications can support the WOSB mission to ultimately create and retain more jobs in the Denver area,” said Michelle Balch Lyng, CEO of Novitas Communications. “Our firm was founded around four core values that compel us to exceed our clients’ expectations — partnership, integrity, a commitment to excellence, and an entrepreneurial spirit. This designation will only allow us to expand our services to new partners.”

The WOSB certification recognizes women that are small business owners who can pass the stringent eligibility requirements and the extensive application process. To qualify as a WOSB, 51 percent of the firm must be owned and predominately managed by one or more women, and the women must be U.S. citizens. The firm also must meet the SBA’s size standards recognizing that the firm is considered small in its industry.
